Samba Police Solve Vijaypur Theft Case: Accused Arrested and Stolen Property Recovered Within 24 Hours

SAMBA, February 23, 2026 — In a swift and successful operation, the Samba Police have solved a high-profile theft case registered at the Vijaypur Police Station, leading to the arrest of one suspect and the recovery of stolen property.

The investigation was triggered by a complaint filed on February 22 by a local resident, Satish Chander, regarding the brazen theft of an iron gate from the Shamshan Ghat (cremation ground) in Shiv Nagar, Vijaypur.

Reportedly, the theft was carried out during the evening hours using a Mahindra pickup vehicle. Following the registration of FIR No. 31/2026 under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), a dedicated police team launched a relentless search that led to the apprehension of the accused, identified as Mukesh Kumar, a resident of Dhayansar Kartholi.

During the arrest, officials successfully recovered the stolen iron gate and seized the vehicle (registration No. JK21K-0399) used in the crime. This efficient breakthrough highlights the commitment of the Samba Police to maintaining law and order and ensuring that local infrastructure—especially sites of communal importance—remains secure from anti-social elements.
