Samba Police Solve Cremation Ground Theft: Accused Arrested and Stolen Property Recovered in Swift Operation
SAMBA, February 23, 2026 — In a prompt and effective response to local crime, the Samba Police have successfully solved a theft case within 24 hours, leading to the arrest of a suspect and the recovery of stolen property.
The case was initiated following a formal complaint by a local resident, Satish Chander, regarding the theft of an iron gate from the Shiv Nagar Shamshan Ghat (cremation ground) in Vijaypur on the evening of February 22.
According to the investigation, the theft was carried out using a Mahindra pickup vehicle, prompting the registration of FIR No. 31/2026 under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Following intensive investigative efforts, a team from the Vijaypur Police Station tracked down and apprehended the accused, identified as Mukesh Kumar, a resident of Dhayansar Kartholi.
Police successfully recovered the stolen iron gate and seized the vehicle (registration No. JK21K-0399) used in the commission of the crime. This successful crackdown highlights the vigilance of the Samba Police in protecting community assets and ensuring swift justice for local residents.
