Samba Police Seize Illegal Khair Wood Logs Stolen from Goran Forest
SAMBA, February 02, 2026: In a significant crackdown on timber smuggling, the Samba Police successfully seized a cache of ‘Khair’ wooden logs that had been illegally felled and stolen from government forest land in Village Chunari, Goran.
Following a tip-off from reliable sources, a specialized team from the Goran Police Post, operating under the jurisdiction of Police Station Samba, conducted a raid at the site. The officers recovered the illicit timber, which had been harvested by unidentified individuals, and formally seized the logs on the spot to prevent further transport or sale.
In response to the forest theft, authorities have formally registered FIR No. 30/2026 at Police Station Samba. The case has been filed under Section 302(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 26 of the Indian Forest Act.
While the perpetrators managed to evade immediate capture, a comprehensive investigation is currently underway to identify the suspects involved in the illegal cutting and to dismantle the local timber smuggling network.
