Samba Police Arrest Drug Peddler Near AIIMS Vijaypur; Heroin-Like Substance SeizedSAMBA, JANUARY 22, 2026: As part of an ongoing intensified crackdown on narcotics trafficking, the Samba Police successfully apprehended a drug peddler within the jurisdiction of Police Station Vijaypur today.
During a targeted “Naka” (checkpoint) operation conducted on the Rakh Barotain road near the AIIMS residence complex, alert police personnel intercepted a pedestrian acting in a suspicious manner. A subsequent search of the individual led to the discovery and seizure of approximately 10 grams of a heroin-like substance.
The accused has been identified as Anuj Kumar, son of Suresh Kumar, a resident of Daroi Daboh in the Samba District. Following the recovery of the contraband, the police took Kumar into custody and officially seized the illegal materials.
A formal case has been registered at the Vijaypur Police Station under FIR No. 16/2026, invoking Sections 8, 21, and 22 of the NDPS Act.
Authorities have confirmed that a full investigation is now underway to trace the origin of the drugs and identify any further links to local smuggling networks.
