Samba Police Apprehend Drug Peddler with Heroin Shipment in Ramgarh
SAMBA, February 1, 2026 — Sustaining its aggressive “War on Drugs,” the Samba Police have arrested a narcotics smuggler and seized approximately 8.59 grams of a heroin-like substance, commonly referred to as “Chitta.”
The arrest took place within the jurisdiction of the Ramgarh Police Station during a proactive vehicle checking operation at a checkpoint on Tarapur Road. Officers intercepted a pedestrian moving suspiciously from the Rakh Barotian area toward Gudwal, leading to the discovery of the contraband during a thorough frisking procedure.
The accused has been identified as Sunil Singh, son of Jagdev Singh and a resident of Kotli Jijaan in the Tikri area of Udhampur district. Following the recovery, the police immediately seized the narcotics and took the suspect into custody.
An official case, FIR No. 05/2026, has been registered at the Ramgarh Police Station under Sections 8, 21, and 22 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Authorities have initiated a detailed investigation to trace the origin of the drugs and determine if the accused is part of a larger distribution network operating across district lines.
