SAMBA, January 10, 2026: In a significant breakthrough for regional security, the Samba Police, in coordination with the Border Security Force (BSF), successfully recovered a cache of arms and ammunition dropped via a Pakistani drone in the Rajpura sector.
The operation was initiated late Friday night, January 9, following intelligence reports regarding a suspicious aerial vehicle crossing the International Border (IB) into the Palura village area.
Upon receiving the alert, security forces cordoned off the open fields where the drone had reportedly dropped a yellow-tape-wrapped package before retreating across the border.
A joint search operation conducted on Saturday morning led to the recovery of a sophisticated arsenal, including a Chinese HE Grenade, a Glock pistol with a magazine, a Star pistol with two magazines, and 16 rounds of 9mm ammunition.
Following the discovery, a formal case has been registered under FIR No. 06/2026 at Police Station Ghagwal. This incident highlights the ongoing vigilance of the Samba Police against evolving cross-border threats.
A high-level investigation is currently underway to identify the intended recipients of the consignment and to dismantle any local modules linked to this smuggling attempt.
