Samba Carjacking Solved: Police Recover Stolen Vehicle Near Kanachak After High-Stakes Chase; Suspects at Large

SAMBA, February 23, 2026 — In a swift and coordinated response to a violent carjacking, the Samba Police have successfully recovered a stolen vehicle from the Kanachak sector within 14 hours of it being snatched at gunpoint. The incident began when four individuals booked a private car from Punjab, claiming they were traveling to attend a wedding ceremony in Jammu.

Upon reaching a secluded area in Vijaypur, the suspects reportedly turned on the driver, physically assaulting him before fleeing with the vehicle toward the border peripheries. Following the victim’s distress call, a massive search operation and district-wide blockade were initiated, leading to the discovery of the abandoned car in the Kanachak area.

While the vehicle has been impounded for forensic examination, the four suspects managed to evade immediate capture and remain at large.
