UDHAMPUR, January 14, 2026 — Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Saloni Rai, chaired a high-level meeting today to evaluate the on-ground implementation and progress of the Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan (PM-SYM) scheme within the district.
Attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Prem Singh and key officials from the labor, employment, and municipal departments, the session focused on expanding the social safety net for workers in the unorganized sector. Saloni Rai emphasized that the scheme is vital for providing financial stability to those who lack access to formal social security mechanisms, urging departments to prioritize the welfare of these vulnerable labor groups.
To ensure the district achieves maximum outreach, DC Saloni Rai issued a series of directives to stakeholder departments to intensify grassroots-level mobilization and awareness campaigns. She instructed officers to proactively identify eligible beneficiaries within their jurisdictions and facilitate seamless enrollment through dedicated field-level activities.
By strengthening these outreach efforts, the administration aims to bring a larger portion of the unorganized workforce under the ambit of the PM-SYM scheme, securing their financial future through this government-backed pension program.
