UDHAMPUR: 05 January 2026 :-Addressing a massive gathering of educators at a one-day Teachers Convention in Udhampur today, Minister for Education, Social Welfare, and Health, Sakeena Itoo, underscored the pivotal role of teachers as the true architects of a progressive and enlightened society.
Accompanied by Director School Education Jammu, Naseem Javaid Choudhary, and other senior officials, the Minister lauded the teaching community for nurturing responsible citizens and acknowledged that many successful IAS and IPS officers are products of government schools.
During her speech, she praised the visionary Rehbar-e-Taleem (ReT) scheme introduced by former CM Dr. Farooq Abdullah for revolutionizing education in far-flung areas and called upon modern educators to adopt innovative, value-based teaching methods to meet the aspirations of the younger generation.
Reaffirming the commitment of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s government to upgrading infrastructure and enhancing teaching standards, the Minister also engaged with teachers regarding their concerns—including the restoration of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) and the withdrawal of non-teaching assignments—while personally distributing sewing machines to women beneficiaries and bicycles to outstanding student athletes on the sidelines of the event.
