RPF Enhances Rail Safety: Surya Commandos Train Railway Personnel in Advanced IED Counter measures
BARABANKI, UP — January 24, 2026:-In a significant move to bolster passenger safety and national security, the Jagjivan Ram National RPF Academy, Lucknow, recently concluded a specialized two-day Counter-Improvised Explosive Device (CIED) training cadre.
Conducted by the elite Surya Disposers at the Shingara Training School in Barabanki, the program was designed to strengthen the “First Responder” capabilities of the Railway Protection Force (RPF).
A total of 41 dedicated trainees, including officers and various ranks from the South Eastern Central Railway (SECR) divisions, underwent rigorous instruction to master the complexities of managing explosive threats within the high-stakes railway environment.
The comprehensive training module focused on the critical pillars of prevention, mitigation, and rapid response. Moving beyond classroom theory, the cadre integrated table-top exercises with high-intensity field drills and live demonstrations.
A key highlight of the program was a realistic simulation involving the safe removal of an IED from a railway bogey, alongside specialized search drills for platforms and carriages. Participants practiced standardized “actions on suspected objects” and mastered Post-Blast Investigation (PBI) procedures, all while adhering to the most stringent international safety protocols to ensure operational excellence.
To bridge the gap between traditional security and modern warfare, the Surya Disposers showcased a suite of cutting-edge technology. RPF personnel received hands-on experience with advanced bomb suits, infrared (IR) cameras, sophisticated detection equipment, and specialized bomb disposal vehicles.
This exposure to high-tech tools has significantly enhanced the force’s technological awareness and overall operational readiness. The participants highly commended the realism of the instruction, noting that the enhanced inter-agency coordination will be pivotal in safeguarding India’s vast rail network against evolving security challenges.
