JANUARY 13, 2026:- In a proactive move to ensure communal harmony and heightened security ahead of the upcoming Republic Day celebrations, SP South Jammu chaired a high-level coordination meeting with local butchers (Kasai) at Police Station Bahu Fort today.
The session, attended by SDPO East and SHO Bahu Fort, focused on streamlining trade practices and ensuring that all activities align with the sensitive security atmosphere of the Union Territory. The administration emphasized that maintaining public order and respecting community sentiments are paramount during the high-alert period leading up to the national event.
During the interaction, SP South directed all meat traders to strictly comply with municipal guidelines and government orders regarding the legal slaughtering, transportation, and sale of meat. A key security mandate issued during the meeting was the compulsory installation and maintenance of high-definition CCTV cameras at all establishments.
Officials noted that these surveillance measures are essential for enhancing transparency, preventing unauthorized activities, and providing accountability in the event of any security concerns or local disputes.
The police further cautioned against illegal slaughtering or the unhygienic display of meat, which could potentially disrupt law and order or hurt public sentiments.
Traders were urged to operate within designated locations and follow lawful timings to avoid public inconvenience. By fostering this cooperation between the civil administration and the business community, the Jammu Police aim to ensure a peaceful environment for the Republic Day festivities.
The participants were reminded that any violation of these legal norms or hygiene standards would face strict administrative action.
