REASI, July 24, 2026 — In a major breakthrough against cybercrime and digital theft, the Reasi Police has successfully recovered 206 missing mobile phones and traced ₹33.49 lakh lost in financial cyber frauds during 2026. The recovered mobile devices—belonging to both local residents and pilgrims visiting the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi and Shiv Khori Shrines—are being restored to their rightful owners following mandatory legal procedures. To assist pilgrims who have already departed the district, police announced that traced devices will be dispatched via courier, provided the owners submit their details and IMEI numbers via email to sspreasi@jkpolice.gov.in.
On the financial fraud front, Cyber Police Station Reasi has already refunded ₹17.36 lakh back to victims following court orders, while the remaining balance is undergoing legal formalities for prompt release. Reasi Police urged citizens and pilgrims to report missing phones immediately with their IMEI numbers (accessible by dialing *#06#) and cautioned the public to stay vigilant against digital scams. Victims of online fraud are advised to report incidents without delay to the National Cyber Crime Helpline at 1930 or through the official portal at www.cybercrime.gov.in, reinforcing the district force’s ongoing commitment to safeguarding citizens’ assets and ensuring secure digital environments.
