RAMBAN, January 06, 2026 : In a major breakthrough demonstrating their persistent commitment to the rule of law, the Ramban Police have successfully tracked down and arrested a high-profile absconder who had been evading justice for nearly 12 years.
The accused, identified as Sandeep Kumar, son of Makhan Lal and a resident of Indera Nagar, Jammu, was apprehended on January 5, 2026, in the Narwal area of Jammu.
The operation was carried out by a specialized police team led by ASI Ravinder Kumar Sharma, following a long-term investigation into the suspect’s whereabouts.The accused was a primary suspect in FIR No. 57/2013, registered at the Ramban Police Station under sections 407 (criminal breach of trust), 420 (cheating), and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the RPC.
Despite over a decade of attempts to bring him to justice, Kumar had managed to remain at large since 2013, prompting the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), Ramban, to issue a warrant under Section 335 of the BNSS (formerly 512 CrPC).
This arrest marks a significant success for the Ramban Police’s ongoing special drive specifically designed to locate and capture long-pending offenders.Ramban Police officials emphasized that this successful capture reinforces their firm resolve that no criminal can escape the reach of the law, regardless of how much time has passed.
The department has vowed to continue these vigorous operations to bolster public confidence and ensure district security. Furthermore, the police have urged the general public to remain vigilant and share any information regarding other absconders or suspicious criminal activities to help maintain peace in the region.
