Raman Bhalla and Mula Ram Lead 140th Congress Foundation Day Celebrations in Jammu

JAMMU, DECEMBER 28: The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) celebrated the 140th Foundation Day of the Indian National Congress today with a massive commemorative event at the party headquarters in Shaheedi Chowk. Working President Raman Bhalla hoisted the party flag in the presence of senior leaders, including former minister Mula Ram and Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma, accompanied by the National Anthem and slogans of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai.” Organized by the District Congress Committee Jammu Urban and the Congress Seva Dal, the function was attended by a broad spectrum of party functionaries, including AICC media team members Saif Ali Naqvi and Amrish Pandey, and notable leaders such as Kanta Bhan, Jugal Kishore Sharma, and Indu Pawar.

Addressing the gathering, Raman Bhalla drew parallels between India’s pre-independence era and current political challenges, alleging that democratic and constitutional institutions are under threat. He asserted that the Congress party, defined by its 140-year history of struggle and sacrifice, remains committed to fighting “dictatorship” and protecting the rights of the marginalized. Bhalla pledged that the party would continue its crusade for the early restoration of statehood and democracy in Jammu and Kashmir, while safeguarding land and job rights for local youth.

He urged party workers to counter opposition propaganda and acknowledge the selfless service of millions of grassroots workers who have sustained the party throughout its history.

Former Minister Mula Ram echoed these sentiments, stating that the Congress party embodies the “idea of India”—a vision defined by unity in diversity. He emphasized that for over a century, the party has served as a bulwark against communal and divisive forces that threaten the nation’s social fabric.

Other senior leaders, including various DCC presidents and former legislators, also spoke at the event, reinforcing the collective resolve to strengthen the party’s ideological foundation. The celebration concluded with a call to action for party workers to engage with the public and prepare for the political challenges ahead, ensuring a focus on truth, equality, and national integrity.
