Rajya Sabha Election Dates Announced for Jammu & Kashmir After Long Wait

Jammu 24 September :- The much-delayed Rajya Sabha elections in Jammu & Kashmir have finally been fixed. The Election Commission on Tuesday made public the full schedule for the process along with all other important details.

According to the schedule, the notification will be issued on October 6, and October 13 will be the deadline for submission of nominations. Papers will be scrutinized on October 14.

Voting has been scheduled for October 24 between 9 AM and 4 PM, and counting of votes will be done on the same day at 5 PM, with results being declared immediately.Four Rajya Sabha seats belonging to Jammu & Kashmir have been vacant since February 2021.

These were previously occupied by Mir Mohammad Fayaz, Shamsher Singh, Ghulam Nabi Azad, and Nazir Ahmad Laway. However, with the reorganization of the state and the lack of a legislative assembly, the elections were not held for more than four years. Now that the new assembly stands, the process has been initiated.

All three separate elections will be held for the four seats, according to the Election Commission. Two individual elections shall be taken for one seat each vacated on February 10, 2021, and a joint election shall be held for the two seats that became vacant on February 15, 2021.
