RAJOURI, February 11, 2026 — In a move to enhance public transport infrastructure, Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, chaired a high-level meeting of the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) to review and approve various transport permits.
Attended by SSP Gaurav Sikarwar and ARTO Rajesh Gupta, the committee scrutinized 17 applications for the change of route permits. Following a rigorous evaluation, 11 applications were officially approved, while five were rejected for failing to meet regulatory norms and one was deferred pending further clarification.
Additionally, the RTA granted several stage carriage permits aimed at improving connectivity across various sectors of the district.During the session, Deputy Commissioner Sharma underscored the importance of inter-departmental cooperation between the Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) and the Traffic Police.
He directed these agencies to conduct joint inspections to finalize designated parking zones, a step intended to reduce traffic congestion in high-traffic areas. Furthermore, authorities were instructed to prioritize the issuance of permits for underserved or “hungry” routes where transport facilities are currently inadequate.
This strategic focus aims to curb the dangerous practice of vehicle overloading while ensuring that residents in remote areas have reliable access to transportation services.
