SUNDERBANI, Jan 3: In a significant move under the ongoing “War on Drugs,” the Rajouri Police arrested a drug peddler and recovered approximately four grams of a heroin-like narcotic substance at a checkpoint today.
While conducting routine “Naka” checking at the ITI Sunderbani crossing, a team from the Sunderbani Police Station intercepted a Tempo Traveller (registration PB01D-8780) traveling from Jammu toward Rajouri.
During the inspection of passengers, one individual exhibited suspicious behavior, leading to a thorough personal search that resulted in the discovery of the contraband.The accused has been identified as Sikander Shah, son of Munawar Hussain and a resident of Draj Kotranka, Rajouri.
Following the recovery, authorities registered Case FIR No. 01/2026 under Sections 8, 21, and 22 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the Sunderbani Police Station.
Preliminary investigations are underway to trace the backward and forward linkages of the accused to dismantle the local narcotics supply chain.
This arrest highlights the heightened vigilance of the Rajouri Police in curbing the transport of illegal substances along major highway routes.
