Rajasthan: Former Railway Superintendent Sentenced to 5 Years in Bribery Case :- CBI
JAIPUR, April 7, 2026 – The Special CBI Court in Jaipur has sentenced Jalandhar Yogi, the former Chief Office Superintendent (CoS) of the Western Central Railways (WCR), to five years of rigorous imprisonment for his involvement in a 2020 bribery case.
Alongside the prison term, the court imposed a fine of ₹25,000 on the convict, concluding a legal process that began nearly six years ago when Yogi was stationed at the Office of AEN in Gangapur City, Sawai Madhopur district.
The case dates back to June 16, 2020, when the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered a formal complaint against Yogi. It was alleged that the official had demanded a bribe of ₹11,500 from a contractor in exchange for clearing a pending final bill for completed work. Acting on the complaint, the CBI laid a strategic trap and apprehended Yogi red-handed while he was accepting an installment of ₹10,000.
Following the successful trap operation, the bribe money was recovered directly from the accused’s possession. The CBI concluded its investigation and filed a formal chargesheet on January 8, 2021.
After a thorough trial, the Hon’ble Court found Yogi guilty of the charges, leading to the recent conviction and sentencing as a stern reminder of the legal consequences of administrative corruption.
