Punjab Police Bust Major Trans-Border Drug Ring: 12 Kg Heroin and ICE Seized in Amritsar Crackdown
AMRITSAR, February 23, 2026 — In a significant blow to international drug trafficking, the Counter Intelligence (CI) wing of Punjab Police has dismantled a major trans-border narcotics module, arresting three individuals and seizing a massive haul of 6 Kg of Heroin and 6 Kg of ICE (Crystal Methamphetamine).
According to a statement released by the Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab, the operation also led to the impounding of two vehicles used for the distribution of these high-value synthetic drugs. Preliminary investigations have exposed a dangerous cross-border connection, revealing that the accused were in direct contact with a Pakistan-based handler.
The module specialized in retrieving drone-dropped consignments from fenced border areas and smuggling them across various districts of Punjab.
A formal case has been registered under the NDPS Act at the State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) in Amritsar, with ongoing investigations focused on tracing forward and backward linkages to completely dismantle the network.
This successful breakthrough reaffirms the Punjab Police’s steadfast commitment to its mission of eradicating drug syndicates and ensuring a safer, drug-free state.
