Punjab Police Bust ISI-Backed Terror Module; Three Arrested in Multi-State Operation
AMRITSAR, PUNJAB – April 6, 2026 :-The Counter Intelligence wing of the Punjab Police has successfully dismantled a major ISI-backed terror module operated by Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs), resulting in the apprehension of three suspects.
In a coordinated high-stakes operation, one of the accused was intercepted in Ahmedabad with the assistance of the Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS), highlighting the cross-border and inter-state nature of the network.
During the arrests, security forces recovered a sophisticated foreign-made Glock pistol and two hand grenades. Notably, the grenades carried distinct Pakistan Ordnance Factory (POF) markings, providing clear evidence of logistical support and linkages originating from across the border.
Preliminary investigations suggest that this module was actively orchestrating a systematic campaign to target police establishments across several states, a threat that has now been neutralized through timely intervention.
Following the breakthrough, an FIR has been registered under the Explosive Substances Act and the Arms Act at the State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) in Amritsar.
While the immediate threat has been averted, Punjab Police officials confirmed that intensive efforts are still underway to identify and track down remaining associates of the module.
This successful operation underscores the unwavering commitment of the Punjab Police to dismantling organized crime networks and maintaining public safety against evolving terror threats.
