Punjab Police Bust BKI-Backed Terror Module: Two Arrested for Nalagarh IED Blast
JALANDHAR, February 22, 2026 — In a major breakthrough for national security, Counter Intelligence units from Jalandhar and SAS Nagar successfully apprehended two key perpetrators responsible for the IED blast at Nalagarh Police Station that occurred on New Year’s Day.
The arrested individuals, identified as Mahavir (alias Kaka) and Manpreet (alias Mani), both residents of SBS Nagar, were captured in a coordinated joint operation. During the arrest, security forces recovered a high-end .
9mm Glock pistol and several live cartridges from their possession, preventing potential further violence.Preliminary investigations have established a direct link between the suspects and foreign-based masterminds Gopi Nawashehria and Jassi Kulam, who are associated with the proscribed terror outfit Babbar Khalsa International (BKI).
The duo, acting on instructions from their overseas handlers, had reportedly procured multiple consignments of lethal hardware, including RDX-based IEDs and hand grenades. It was from these specific consignments that the IED used in the January 1st attack in Himachal Pradesh was sourced.
With the apprehension of Mahavir and Manpreet, the Punjab Police have effectively dismantled the entire terror module. This follows the prior arrest of six accomplices who were responsible for the logistics of “picking and dropping” terrorist hardware across the region.
This operation marks a significant victory for the Punjab Police in their unwavering commitment to neutralizing terror networks, dismantling organized crime, and ensuring the continued peace and safety of the public.
