Pulwama Police Crack Down on Illegal Mining: Machinery Seized and FIRs Registered in Rajpora

PULWAMA, March 18, 2026 — In a decisive move to curb the unauthorized extraction of natural resources, the Pulwama Police launched a targeted special operation today across the Akhal and Drubgam areas of Rajpora.

The crackdown is part of a sustained district-wide drive aimed at dismantling illegal mining networks that threaten the local ecosystem.

During the raids, police teams intercepted and seized several heavy vehicles and machines used for the illegal excavation and transportation of minerals, including two JCB machines, one dumper, and two tractors.

Following the seizures, the authorities have formally tightened the legal noose around the violators by registering two separate cases: FIR No. 34/2026 and FIR No. 35/2026.

The charges have been filed under stringent provisions of the law, including Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 3 of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property (PPD) Act.

A comprehensive investigation is currently underway to identify the primary beneficiaries and masterminds behind these illicit operations in the Rajpora belt.

The Pulwama Police department has reiterated its zero-tolerance policy toward the exploitation of the region’s mineral wealth.

Highlighting the importance of environmental conservation, officials urged the general public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious mining activities to the nearest police station.

This latest action serves as a stern warning to those involved in the illegal trade that the police remain committed to safeguarding natural resources and upholding the rule of law through continuous surveillance and firm legal action.
