NEW DELHI, January 06, 2026: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has lauded the successful commissioning of the Residue Upgradation Facility (RUF) by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) at its Visakh Refinery in Andhra Pradesh.

Describing the achievement as a “decisive leap” for the nation, the Prime Minister highlighted that the new facility is a critical component in the country’s ongoing journey toward achieving energy security and self-reliance.

This state-of-the-art infrastructure is expected to significantly enhance the refinery’s efficiency by converting heavy residues into high-value fuels, thereby reducing import dependency.

Narendra Modi noted that such technological advancements add necessary momentum to India’s energy sector, ensuring that the country remains on track to become a global leader in energy independence.

By modernizing existing infrastructure with world-class technology, the government aims to strengthen the national economy and provide a more sustainable energy future for the citizens.
