President Droupadi Murmu Extends Statehood Day Greetings to Meghalaya, Tripura, and Manipur
NEW DELHI | January 21, 2026:- President Droupadi Murmu extended her heartfelt greetings to the people of Meghalaya, Tripura, and Manipur today as the three Northeast states celebrated their 54th Statehood Day.
In an official post on X (formerly Twitter), the President highlighted that these states are uniquely “blessed with a rich cultural legacy, vibrant traditions, and extraordinary natural beauty.” Acknowledging the vital role of the region in the country’s development, she noted that the “enterprising and talented people” of these three states have made remarkable contributions to the progress of the nation.
Concluding her message with a vision for the future, President Murmu wished all residents a path filled with continued peace and prosperity. The states of Manipur, Meghalaya, and Tripura officially attained full statehood on this day in 1972 under the North-Eastern Areas (Reorganisation) Act, 1971
