Prayagraj to Host North Tech Symposium 2026: Indian Army and Industry to Synergy for ‘Atmanirbhar’ Defense

NEW DELHI March 25, 2026:-The curtain raiser for the North Tech Symposium 2026 was held today at the Manekshaw Centre in New Delhi, formally announcing the upcoming high-level defense event scheduled to take place in Prayagraj from May 4 to 6, 2026.

Organized in coordination with the Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM), the symposium is a joint initiative by the Northern and Central Commands of the Indian Army.

The event aims to integrate operational field perspectives with cutting-edge technological development, bringing together key stakeholders from the Ministry of Defence, paramilitary forces, academia, and the startup ecosystem.

Distinguished attendees included Lt Gen Anindya Sengupta, GOC-in-C Central Command, Lt Gen Pratik Sharma, GOC-in-C Northern Command, and Neeraj Gupta, Vice President of SIDM, who collectively outlined a vision for a more self-reliant defense sector.

Under the theme ‘Raksha Triveni Sangam – Where Technology, Industry and Soldiering Converge,’ the symposium serves as a collaborative platform to address real-world operational challenges through indigenous innovation.

A central highlight of the curtain raiser was the release of a “Compendium of Problem Definition Statements,” which provides a roadmap for industry partners to develop specific technological solutions.

The three-day event in May will feature extensive technology displays and two major thematic seminars: Strategic Autonomy in Next Generation Advancement and Manufacturing (SANGAM) and Defence Industry Harnessing through Resilient UPEIDA Verticals and Alliances (DHRUVA).

These sessions are designed to spark dialogue between soldiers and scientists, ensuring that the latest research trends are directly aligned with the requirements of the modern battlefield.

By bridging the gap between the Indian Army’s frontline needs and the nation’s manufacturing capabilities, the North Tech Symposium 2026 reinforces India’s commitment to strategic autonomy.

The strong participation from startups and Defense Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs) at the launch event reflects a growing momentum toward the “Atmanirbhar Bharat” initiative in the defense domain.

As the symposium moves to its main stage in Prayagraj, it promises to be a pivotal moment for fostering resilient alliances and accelerating the adoption of emerging technologies within the Armed Forces.
