Police Rescue Four Minor Children from Begging on Mata Vaishno Devi Track
REASI, December 29, 2025: In a significant move to combat child exploitation and ensure the welfare of minors, the District Police Reasi successfully rescued four minor children found begging on the busy Ban Ganga track leading to the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine.
During a routine checking operation at Katra, police personnel intervened after noticing the children engaged in begging activities along the pilgrimage route. Following established legal and welfare protocols, the police immediately took the children into protective custody to safeguard their rights and well-being.
The operation was executed by SHO Police Station Katra, Inspector Ranjeet Singh Rao, under the close supervision of SDPO Katra, Dr. Bhishm Dubey, and SP Katra, Vipan Chandran.
To ensure proper care and rehabilitation, the rescued minors were formally handed over to the PRAYAS Juvenile Aid Centre in Katra, Reasi, following coordination with child welfare authorities.
Reiterating the administration’s zero-tolerance policy toward child labor and exploitation, SSP Reasi, Paramvir Singh, urged the general public to remain vigilant and report any instances of child begging to the nearest police unit to facilitate timely intervention.
