Police Intensifies War Against Drug Menace, 07 Peddlers Arrested with Contraband Substance in Anantnag
Anantnag 10 November :- Continuing its drive against drug trafficking, Police in Anantnag arrested seven drug peddlers in multiple operations across the district and recovered substantial quantities of contraband substances.
Police Station Bijbehara under proactive action against drug peddling, registered three separate cases under the relevant provisions of NDPS Act and arrested three accused persons.
Case FIR No. 216/2025 u/s 8/20 NDPS Act registered against Abdul Ghani Safi son of Mohammad Rajab Safi resident of Sather and 1.483 kg Cannabis were recovered from his possession. In Case FIR No. 217/2025 u/s 8/20 NDPS Act registered against Fayaz Ahmed Ganie son of Ghulam Qadir resident of Kandipora, 10 kgs of Cannabis recovered from his possession.
In case FIR No. 218/2025 u/s 8/20 NDPS Act registered against Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Dar son of Habib Ullah Dar resident of Kandipora, 4 kgs of Cannabis were recovered from his possession.In another series of operations, Police arrested four more drug peddlers in two more FIRs and recovered substantial quantity of contraband.
In Case FIR No. 240/2025 u/s 8/20 NDPS Act of PS Anantnag registered against Abdul Wahid Khan son of Fayaz Ahmed Khan resident of Cheni Chowk Anantnag, and Amir Yousaf Khan son of Late Yousaf Ahmed Khan, resident of Maliknag Anantnag, 641 g charas-like substance has been recovered from their possession.Similarly, in another case FIR No. 97/2025 u/s 8/20-29 NDPS Act of PS Mattan registered against Kaiser Shakeel Wani son of Shakeel Ahmad Wani and Firdous Ahmad Poya son of Mohd Yousuf Poya, both residents of Pehroo Anantnag, 7.69 kg charas powder has been recovered from their possession.All accused have been formally arrested and the recovered contraband has been seized as per procedure under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance Act.
Police reiterates its firm resolve to eradicate the drug menace from society and appeals to the public to share any information related to drug trafficking.
