PM Modi to Inaugurate 28th Commonwealth Speakers Conference at Samvidhan Sadan Tomorrow

NEW DELHI, Jan 14: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the 28th Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers of the Commonwealth (CSPOC) on January 15, 2026.

The prestigious event will commence at 10:30 AM in the historic Central Hall of Samvidhan Sadan, located within the Parliament House Complex. In addition to the formal inauguration, the Prime Minister will deliver a keynote address to the visiting dignitaries, emphasizing India’s commitment to democratic values and international parliamentary cooperation.

The conference, presided over by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, will see high-level participation from across the globe, including 61 Speakers and Presiding Officers representing 42 Commonwealth nations and four semi-autonomous parliaments.

Over the course of the event, delegates will engage in critical deliberations on the evolution of modern governance. Key agenda items include the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in parliamentary procedures, the growing influence of social media on the work of Members of Parliament, and the essential role of presiding officers in safeguarding democratic institutions.

Furthermore, the forum will explore innovative strategies to foster deeper citizen engagement and public understanding of parliamentary processes beyond the act of voting.
