PM Addresses Indian Diaspora in Muscat: Celebrating 50 Years of Indian Schools in Oman

New Delhi, December 18, 2025 — Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a vibrant gathering of the Indian community in Muscat today, marking a historic milestone as Indian schools in Oman celebrate 50 years of academic excellence. Speaking to an audience that included over 700 students, the Prime Minister extended heartfelt greetings from India and expressed gratitude for the warm, colorful welcome. He emphasized that the diversity of the Indian diaspora is the bedrock of their ability to assimilate and thrive globally, noting that the hallmarks of co-existence and cooperation have earned the community immense respect within Omani society.

The Prime Minister highlighted the deep-rooted, “Mandvi to Muscat” historical connection between the two nations, now nurtured by the hard work of the diaspora. He specifically lauded the community’s engagement in the Bharat ko Janiye quiz and congratulated the educational institutions on their golden jubilee, emphasizing that knowledge remains the centerpiece of the India-Oman relationship. Furthermore, he extended sincere thanks to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik for his unwavering support toward the welfare of Indian citizens residing in the Sultanate.

Turning to India’s domestic progress, the Prime Minister detailed the country’s transformational growth, citing a robust economy with over 8% growth in the latest quarter. He outlined a decade of achievements in infrastructure, manufacturing, healthcare, and green energy, while specifically highlighting India’s leadership in the Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) ecosystem. Notably, he shared that India’s UPI now accounts for nearly 50% of global digital payments. He also celebrated India’s celestial milestones, from lunar landings to the upcoming Gaganyaan mission, inviting Omani-Indian students to participate in ISRO’s YUVIKA program to foster future space collaboration.

Concluding his address, the Prime Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the welfare of the diaspora, ensuring that India stands ready to support its citizens wherever they may be. He envisioned a future-ready India-Oman partnership driven by Artificial Intelligence (AI), digital learning, and entrepreneurship. Encouraging the youth to “dream big, learn deep, and innovate bold,” he called on the next generation to lead the charge in contributing meaningfully to global humanity through innovation and partnership.
