PDP’s Iltija Mufti Meets LG Sinha over apple industry crisis amid Highway Closure

Srinagar 16 September :- Iltija Mufti Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) met with Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday to address the severe crisis plaguing the Union Territory’s vital apple industry, triggered by the prolonged closure of the Jammu-Srinagar national highway.

The key transportation route has been shut down due to heavy rains and flash floods, leaving countless fruit-laden trucks stranded for days and sparking fears among growers of massive financial losses.

This meeting followed protests a day earlier by apple growers and traders, who demonstrated against the highway closure and what they termed as government inaction.

Following the discussion, Mufti stated that the Lieutenant Governor assured her of all necessary efforts to expedite the smooth movement of trucks and prevent further damage to the industry.
