PDP MLA Waheed Para Moves Adjournment Motion Over Targeted Violence Against Kashmiris out side J&K
JAMMU, February 3, 2026 — In a bid to address the growing safety concerns of the Kashmiri diaspora, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) MLA Waheed Ur Rehman Para has submitted an urgent adjournment motion in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly.
The motion calls for an immediate discussion on the surge of hate crimes, harassment, and targeted violence faced by Kashmiri students and laborers outside J&K .
Para highlighted the distressing reality of individuals being subjected to verbal abuse, physical assaults, and forced evictions solely due to their regional identity, noting that these incidents have fostered a climate of fear among youth pursuing education and employment outside the Union Territory.
Describing the situation as a matter of “grave concern,” the Pulwama legislator urged the House to demand robust security interventions from the Union Home Ministry and proposed the establishment of dedicated helplines and nodal officers to protect vulnerable citizens.
This legislative move underscores the PDP’s commitment to safeguarding the dignity and rights of Jammu and Kashmir residents, with the motion expected to spark significant debate in the Assembly shortly.
