PATHANKOT, January 17, 2026 — Acting on the directives of the Director General of Police, Punjab, to intensify operations against anti-national elements, the Pathankot Police, under the supervision of Sandeep Goel, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Border Range, Amritsar, has achieved a significant breakthrough by recovering a large cache of arms and ammunition.
Based on specific intelligence received by the CIA staff regarding the activities of Harwinder Singh (alias Rinda), a key leader of the banned terrorist organization Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) currently operating from Pakistan under the direction of ISI, a search operation was launched.
The investigation indicated that Rinda had smuggled a consignment of weapons into India through the border area of Narot Jaimal Singh to facilitate a major terror incident orchestrated by his organized network.
During the search operation conducted in the Narot Jaimal Singh area, police recovered AK-47 Rifles: 03 units with 05 magazines,Pistols: 02 units with 02 magazines (one Turkey-made and one China-made), Ammunition: 98 live cartridges of various calibers.
A case (FIR No. 04) has been registered dated January 17, 2026, under Sections 3 and 4 of the Explosive Substances Act-1908, Sections 25, 54, and 59 of the Arms Act-1959, and Section 111 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against Harwinder Singh Rinda and his unidentified associates.
Further investigation into the matter is currently in progress to uncover the broader network and intended target.
