Pampore Administration Imposes Total Ban on Firecrackers Over Pollution and Safety Concerns
PAMPORE, March 16, 2026 — In a decisive move to protect public health and the environment, the Executive Magistrate 1st Class/Tehsildar Pampore, Malik Aasif Ahmad (JKAS), has officially prohibited the sale, purchase, and use of all types of firecrackers within the territorial jurisdiction of Tehsil Pampore.
The order, issued under the powers vested via Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) – 2023, comes in response to mounting concerns raised by the general public regarding the escalating levels of environmental pollution, public safety risks, and significant health hazards associated with firecracker use.
The administration has made it clear that any individual or entity found violating these directives will face strict legal action under relevant provisions of the law. To ensure the ban is effectively implemented on the ground, the Station House Officers (SHOs) of both Pampore and Khrew have been directed to enforce the order strictly within their respective jurisdictions.
This proactive measure aims to mitigate the negative impact of noise and air pollution while ensuring the safety of residents in the saffron town and its surrounding areas.
