Srinagar,14th  August:- Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday told that he had called Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding the debilitating cloudburst in Kishtwar, terming the situation “grim” while raising concerns about delays in receiving confirmed reports from the affected region. On a post on X (formerly Twitter), Abdullah said, “I just spoke to the Union Home Minister to brief him about the developing situation in Kishtwar region of Jammu. The news is grim & accurate, verified information from the area hit by the cloud burst is slow in arriving. All possible resources are being mobilized from within & beyond J&K to manage the rescue operations. I’m not going to be speaking to channels or news agencies. The government will share information as & when possible.

In a later posting, the CM Omar Abdullah declared the ‘At Home’ tea party cancelled on Independence Day evening  in respect for the victims. He also cancelled cultural events as part of the morning celebrations, although the formal proceedings—including the speech by the Chief Minister and march past—will go ahead as scheduled.
