Jammu 16 October :- The Jammu and Kashmir’s Chief Minister today announced the revival of Half yearly Darbar move Practices the bi annual shifting of the Capital and seat of governance between Jammu and Srinagar after the gap of Four years.
CM Omar while addressing Press Conference here in Jammu in which he gives nod for revival of decades old Darbar move Practices.Omar added that the file in this regards was sent to Lieutenant Governor J&K Manoj Sinha and has been approved. The government is reviving the practice soon,” he Added.
The Cabinet had recommended a return to the full-fledged Darbar Move in September this year. The practice was started by Maharaja Gulab Singh in 1872 to move the capital between Jammu in the winter and Srinagar in the summer.
The Revival of Darbar move had been key promise in the National Conference’s election Promise.
Darbar move continued for over a century, providing administrative access to both regions. The practice was, however, halted by Lt Governor Manoj Sinha in 2021
