Sonamarg, 17th August :- A accident occurred near Kapran Bridge on the SSG Road in Sonamarg today when a truck Registration No: JKO1AF-5403 collided head-on with a Tempo Traveller JK11G-8283, leaving nine persons injured, including the driver and co-driver of the Tempo.
The injured, all tourists from Bihar except for the two local drivers, were immediately rushed to the Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Sonamarg for treatment. According to preliminary reports, the Tempo Traveller was carrying a group of tourists when the collision took place. The impact of the crash caused significant damage to both vehicles, with the passengers sustaining injuries of varying severity.
The injured have been identified as: Aditi Indrani (30), daughter of Rajiv Kumar Indrani,Nishit Kumar (32), son of Vijay Kumar,Nikhil Singh (27), son of Bijay Singh,Apurva Bahudara (32) son of Ajay Kumar,Dimple Mehta (30), daughter of Sunil Kumar Mehta,Aman Bhardwaj (32), son of Ram Chandra,Smita (29), daughter of Sanjay Kumar Singh,Imran Hussain (27) son of Ghulam Mohammad Rather (Driver, resident of Doda,Taufeeq Umar (20), son of Farooq Ahmed (Co-driver, resident of Doda) Medical officials at PHC Sonamarg confirmed that while all injured are in stable condition, four individuals—Aditi Indrani, Nishit Kumar, Aman Bhardwaj, and driver Imran Hussain—were referred to SKIMS Soura, Srinagar, for advanced treatment due to the nature of their injuries.
Police teams, swiftly reached the spot to assist in rescue operations. An investigation has been initiated to determine the exact cause of the accident.
