Udhampur 07 September :- Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh provided a crucial update on the situation in Udhampur via a post on social media platform ‘X’, addressing the challenges posed by the blocked National Highway which has left areas like Chenani inaccessible by road.
In response to demands for airlifting food packets to cut-off regions such as Latti and Mantalai, Dr Singh stated that while current weather conditions are not feasible for helicopter operations, an alternative road connectivity to Chenani via a PMGSY road is being actively worked out and may become viable later today. He also reported that the area of Moungri was cut off due to a blockade near Kainth Gali, and subject to weather improvement, arrangements are being made to airlift essential supplies there.
In a positive development, the Dr Singh confirmed that NHAI authorities are optimistic about opening the critical Jammu -Srinagar Highway near Thard and Balli Nallah by late evening, provided the weather remains reasonably favourable.
