RAMBAN, January 23, 2026 — As heavy weather conditions disrupted movement along the crucial NH-44 highway, the Indian Army’s Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) teams once again demonstrated their commitment to public welfare.

Troops from the 23 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) Camp at Nachlana launched a swift intervention to assist hundreds of stranded civilians and tourists caught in the cold crisis.

Recognizing the immediate needs of those stuck on the highway, the personnel distributed essential supplies, including food, water, and hot tea, ensuring that the most vulnerable—specifically the elderly, women, and children—received priority care.

Beyond providing nourishment, the Army established temporary medical first-aid points to address health concerns arising from the plummeting temperatures. This proactive response by the Nachlana-based unit highlights the Indian Army’s core values of compassion and its unwavering ethos of “Service Before Self.”

By transforming a high-altitude crisis into an opportunity for humanitarian aid, the 23 RR troops have reinforced the deep bond between the armed forces and the civilian population, ensuring that no traveler was left to face the harsh elements alone.
