Jammu/Srinagar 08 September :- The Traffic Police Headquarters for Jammu and Kashmir has issued a comprehensive traffic plan for Wednesday, September 10, 2025, with significant restrictions on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) and regulated movement on alternate routes.

The primary artery, the Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44), remains completely closed for vehicular movement from Jakheni (Udhampur) towards Srinagar and vice versa due to a road blockage between Jakheni and Bali Nallah. Consequently, no traffic will be permitted from Nagrota (Jammu) towards Chenani, Patnitop, Doda, Ramban, Banihal, or Srinagar.

Commuters traveling to Katra, Reasi, and Udhampur town are advised to carry photo ID cards to facilitate smooth identification and passage at checkpoints. In light of the NH-44 closure, alternate routes are open with strict regulations.

On the Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag road (NH-244), only Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) will be allowed from both sides subject to fair weather and a green signal from the NHIDCL. The movement is time-bound, with vehicles permitted from PP Parana towards Anantnag from 0800 hrs to 1600 hrs and from PP Daksum towards Kishtwar from 0900 hrs to 1500 hrs.

Similarly, traffic on the Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumari (SSG) road will be regulated, with LMVs followed by Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMVs) allowed from Minamarg towards Srinagar between 0500 hrs and 1000 hrs, and from Sonamarg towards Kargil from 1130 hrs to 1730 hrs, following clearance from the BRO.

The Mughal Road is also open for LMVs and private cars from both the Jammu and Srinagar sides via Poonch, subject to weather and road conditions. Movement is permitted from Behramgala (Baffliaz) between 0600 hrs and 1730 hrs and from Herpora (Shopian) from 0600 hrs to 1700 hrs.

Only stranded essential commodities trucks (six tyres only) between Sunderbani and Poonch will be allowed towards Shopian, with no new HMV movement permitted onto the road. The advisory includes strict cut-off timings for LMVs at various towns along the Mughal Road from both Jammu and Srinagar to ensure smooth flow and adherence to deadlines.

The Traffic Police have strongly advised all travelers to confirm the status of the roads before commencing their journey by contacting the Traffic Control Units in Jammu (0191-2459048, 0191-2740550, 9419147732, 103), Srinagar (0194-2450022, 2485396, 18001807091, 103), or other regional PCR numbers.
