New Book ‘Column & Discourse’ by Dr. Satwant Singh Rissam Released in Jammu
JAMMU, January 06, 2026: A distinguished gathering of academics, administrators, and media professionals assembled at the Jammu Writers Club, Abhinav Theatre Complex, to celebrate the launch of Column & Discourse, the second book by Dr. Satwant Singh Rissam.
The work, which compiles Dr. Rissam’s published news columns from 2022 to 2025, was officially released by Chief Guest Prof. R. D. Sharma, former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Jammu, alongside Guest of Honour B. R. Kundal, former Chief Secretary of J&K, and Distinguished Guest Rohit Kapoor, Senior Advocate and former Judicial Member of the National Company Law Tribunal.
The event also featured special guests Sanjeev Pargal, President of the Press Club of Jammu, and Mohit Kandhari, Bureau Head of The Pioneer, both of whom contributed reviews to the volume.
During the ceremony, Prof. R. D. Sharma lauded the book as a vital contribution to contemporary public discourse, noting its ability to reflect ground realities and bridge the gap between policymakers and the general public.
Former Chief Secretary B. R. Kundal echoed these sentiments, highlighting that Dr. Rissam’s writing effectively captures complex administrative challenges and significant events in a language accessible to ordinary citizens.
Adding a legal perspective, Rohit Kapoor commended the author for his nuanced exploration of constitutional and civic issues, expressing confidence that the collection will inspire deeper thought regarding democracy and governance rights within the region.
Reflecting on his work, Dr. Rissam stated that Column & Discourse serves as a curated synthesis of his reflections on society, culture, and governance, aimed at fostering more informed conversations across Jammu & Kashmir.
The launch attracted numerous prominent members of civil society, further underscoring the book’s relevance to the local intellectual landscape.
The proceedings were conducted by Advocate Akshey Gupta, and the event concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Sandeep Singh, marking a successful milestone for the author and heritage enthusiast.
