NDRF Strengthens Disaster Preparedness in Doda with Community Awareness and Vulnerability Mapping Drive

DODA, DECEMBER 24: In a proactive move to bolster grassroots resilience, the 13th Battalion of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) conducted a comprehensive Community Awareness Programme and Data Collection Drive at Gundna today.

Organized under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh and the direct supervision of Additional Deputy Commissioner Anil Kumar Thakur, the initiative focused on equipping residents with essential disaster management skills. The NDRF experts provided hands-on training on emergency response mechanisms, the interpretation of early warning systems, and specific safety protocols to be followed during floods, earthquakes, and landslides—disasters that are particularly prevalent in the hilly terrain of the Doda district.

Complementing the educational sessions, the NDRF team executed an extensive door-to-door data collection exercise to create a precise vulnerability map of the area. This drive involved documenting local population demographics and assessing the availability of critical infrastructure and resources that could be mobilized during a crisis. By identifying high-risk zones and local assets, the NDRF aims to streamline mitigation strategies and ensure a rapid, coordinated emergency response.

The program saw enthusiastic participation from the Gundna community, highlighting the vital role of local involvement in minimizing life and property loss during natural calamities.
