NDRF Mountaineering Rescue Training Begins in Samba: J&K Police Lead Specialized Advanced Course

SAMBA, February 23, 2026 — In a major boost to regional disaster response capabilities, the first batch of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) began a specialized Mountaineering Rescue Course today at the rugged Rock Area in Nud, Samba.

Conducted by the J&K Police Mountain Rescue Team (MRT) under the expert supervision of the Commanding Officer of the IR 12th Battalion, this intensive training program is designed to sharpen the technical skills of NDRF personnel in high-stakes environments.

The curriculum focuses on advanced rockcraft, rappelling, complex rope management, and swift emergency response maneuvers tailored for the challenging mountainous terrain of the Union Territory.

During the inaugural session, Inspector Ram Singh, In-charge of the J&K Police MRT, underscored that mastering these specialized mountaineering skills is critical for executing safe and successful missions in geographically demanding regions.

This initiative not only enhances inter-agency coordination but also ensures that elite rescue teams are better equipped to handle high-altitude disasters and save lives in treacherous conditions.
