NDRF Boosts Disaster Resilience in Doda: Community Awareness and Data Drive in Thathri and Phagsoo
Doda 17 December :- 13th Battalion of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) launched an extensive disaster preparedness initiative across the Thathri and Phagsoo tehsils of Doda district. Organized under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh and the direct supervision of Additional Deputy Commissioner Anil Kumar Thakur, the drive focused on empowering grassroots communities through safety education and strategic data collection.
During the sessions, NDRF experts engaged with local residents to provide critical training on emergency response protocols, including early warning systems, evacuation techniques, and life-saving first-aid measures tailored to regional threats like floods, earthquakes, and landslides. In addition to the educational workshops, the battalion conducted a comprehensive door-to-door vulnerability assessment to map local demographics and critical infrastructure.
This data collection effort is designed to identify high-risk areas and catalog available resources, ensuring that future mitigation strategies and rescue operations are both swift and precise. By bridging the gap between specialized rescue teams and the local populace, the initiative has significantly strengthened the district’s proactive approach to disaster risk reduction, fostering a culture of shared responsibility for public safety.
