Naushera Day 2026: Rajouri Honors Fallen Heroes with Wreath Laying and Patriotic Tributes

NAUSHERA, February 6, 2026 — The historic town of Naushera in Rajouri district stood in solemn remembrance today to celebrate Naushera Day 2026, marking the anniversary of the legendary Battle of Naushera where Indian forces successfully defended the region and laid the groundwork for the recapture of Jhanghar.

The commemorative events were led by Major General Kaushik Mukherjee (SM, VSM), General Officer Commanding of the Ace of Spades Division, who was joined by senior civil administration and J&K Police officials to pay tribute to the region’s military legacy.

The day began with a moving wreath-laying ceremony at Veer Bhoomi, where the GOC honored the bravehearts who made the ultimate sacrifice during the 1947-48 conflict.

The atmosphere shifted to one of vibrant national pride as local school children performed a series of patriotic songs and dances, symbolizing the region’s resilient spirit. During the celebrations, the GOC felicitated Veer Naris, ex-servicemen, and young achievers, emphasizing that the victory at Naushera was a collective triumph made possible by the unwavering support of the local populace.

Addressing the crowd, Maj Gen Mukherjee highlighted the critical role of the youth in nation-building and reaffirmed the enduring bond between the Indian Army and the community in ensuring a secure and prosperous future.
