JAMMU JANUARY 24, 2026 – To mark National Voters’ Day, the University of Jammu and the J&K Election Department jointly hosted a high-energy “NVD Run” at the university’s Sports Complex to promote electoral awareness and democratic participation.
Organized under the guidance of Chief Electoral Officer Sanjeev Verma and Vice-Chancellor Professor Umesh Rai, the event was officially inaugurated by Special Secretary Dr. Nirupa Rai and Director of Sports Dr. Daoud Iqbal Baba.
Centered on the powerful theme, “My India, My Vote,” the run aimed to inspire students, morning walkers, and members of civil society to recognize the importance of making informed and ethical choices at the ballot box.Nearly 200 participants joined the race, turning the campus into a vibrant hub of civic engagement.
The top three finishers in both the men’s and women’s categories were honored for their performance, while all participants received Certificates of Appreciation for contributing to the voter awareness cause.
The event was made possible through the meticulous coordination of a senior team of officials, including Additional Secretary Muzaffar Malik and Deputy Chief Electoral Officer Gurpinder Singh.
By combining physical fitness with a vital national message, the marathon successfully reinforced the fundamental role of voting in shaping the country’s future and encouraged the youth to lead the charge in strengthening India’s democracy.
