“My India, My Vote”: Sanjeev Verma Launches 3-Day Art Camp at Jammu’s Kala Kendra to Boost Voter Awareness

JAMMU, January 19, 2026: To celebrate the intersection of creativity and civic duty, Chief Electoral Officer Sanjeev Verma officially inaugurated a three-day painting camp titled “My India, My Vote” at Kala Kendra, Jammu today.

The event, which runs through January 21, is a collaborative initiative between the J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) and the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, J&K, aimed at using fine arts to inspire democratic participation.The inaugural ceremony was attended by a host of prominent officials, including Dr. Nirupa Rai (Special Secretary, Office of the CEO), Harvinder Kour (Secretary, JKAACL), Sonali Arun Gupta (Additional Secretary, JKAACL), and Dr. Javaid Rahi (Secretary, Kala Kendra).

During his keynote address, Sanjeev Verma lauded Jammu & Kashmir as a “vibrant hub of art and culture” and thanked the artist community for their role in promoting electoral literacy. He emphasized that the works produced during this camp would serve as a powerful visual reminder of the importance of every single vote in a thriving democracy.

The camp features a diverse assembly of both veteran and emerging talent, including K.K. Gandhi, Vijay Anand, Gokal Dembi, Akram Khan, Jang S. Verman, Shivani Khajuria, Shakti Kumari, Rakesh Sharma, Ankush Kesar, Sunil Dutt, Rakesh Kumar, Surpal Singh Salathia, Mahua Gupta, Anjali Bharti, Narindar Kumar, Parveen Kumar, Monia Kapoor, Nidhi Jain, Sunita Gandhi, and Mahesh Sharma.

Their collective works will be showcased to reinforce the message of active civic engagement and to encourage the youth to participate enthusiastically in the electoral process.
