MRT Refresher Course Commencement at Nud, Samba

Samba 17 November :- The first batch of Mountain Rescue Team (MRT) Refresher Course commenced today at NUD Samba Training Centre, marking the start of a comprehensive skill-upgradation initiative for MRT personnel.

A total of 40 participants from various units have reported for this fifteen-day programme, meticulously designed to refine their operational efficiency and enhance their preparedness for high-altitude rescue operations.

The course is being conducted by Inspector Ram Singh along with MRT core team under the supervision of CO IR 12th Bn. The trainers will impart advanced rescue techniques, high-angle operations, rope-handling skills, first-aid response, terrain navigation, and safety protocols essential for effective functioning in rugged mountainous regions. The training modules also include scenario-based exercises to sharpen decision-making in real-time rescue situations.

A key focus of this refresher course is to prepare the personnel for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026, where MRT teams play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and smooth movement of pilgrims along the challenging routes.

This initiative reflects the department’s sustained endeavour to strengthen disaster-response capability and ensure that MRT personnel remain fully equipped to safeguard lives during emergencies in difficult terrains.
