UDHAMPUR, AUGUST 25: Government of Jammu and Kashmir, through the Council for Rehabilitation of Widows, Orphans, Handicapped and Old Persons (Victims of Militancy) under the Social Welfare Department, organized a special distribution program for retrofitted motorized tricycles to empower specially-abled persons.
The UT-level inaugural ceremony was held at SKICC, Srinagar, where Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah and Minister for Health and Medical Education Sakina Masood Itoo distributed 547 retrofitted motorized tricycles among the beneficiaries.In continuation to the main event, a district-level distribution programme was organized in the Conference Hall DC Office Complex Udhampur, which was virtually attended by MLA Chenani, Balwant Singh Mankotia, MLA Udhampur West, Pawan Kumar Gupta, MLA Udhampur East, Ranbir Singh Pathania, MLA Ramnagar, Sunil Bhardwaj, Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Saloni Rai, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Prem Singh, along with other officers.
As many as 24 motorized tricycles were given away to specially-abled beneficiaries of the district at an impressive function organized by the District Administration Udhampur and Social Welfare Department.
The program commenced with a welcome address by District Social Welfare Officer Kanika Gupta. She highlighted the welfare schemes of the Social Welfare Department dedicated to specially-abled persons.The Deputy Commissioner congratulated the beneficiaries and appreciated the Social Welfare Department for successfully organizing the distribution camp. She emphasized that such initiatives aim not only to provide mobility and independence to specially-abled persons but also to create awareness about government schemes, ensuring that their benefits reach the deserving individuals.
