Minister Satish Sharma Reviews Bandipora Development: Focus on Sports Infrastructure, Road Safety, and Public Welfare
Srinagar 17 December :- In a significant push toward regional progress, Satish Sharma, Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Transport, and Youth Services & Sports, chaired a high-level review meeting in Bandipora on December 17.
Accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Indu Kanwal Chib and other senior officials, the Minister assessed the progress of various flagship schemes and departmental activities. A major highlight of the session was the emphasis on transforming the sports landscape, with directives issued to fast-track the completion of the prefab Indoor Hall at S.K. Stadium and upgrade playfields in Gurez, Sadunara, and Ajas.
The Minister also advocated for the promotion of skiing and water sports to harness the natural potential of the district.Beyond infrastructure, the Minister addressed critical public safety and social issues. He directed the Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) to mandate regular medical examinations for drivers to bolster road safety and urged the Food Department to engage in community consultations to refine the Public Distribution System (PDS).
Highlighting the administration’s commitment to a healthy society, Sharma lauded the ongoing efforts under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and called for increased youth engagement through marathons and sports events to steer energy away from drug abuse.
