Minister Sakeena Itoo Conducts Surprise Inspection of District Hospital Kulgam Amid Heavy Snowfall
KULGAM, JANUARY 23, 2026 — In response to prevailing inclement weather conditions, Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare, and Education, Sakeena Itoo, conducted a surprise inspection of District Hospital Kulgam to review patient care and healthcare service delivery.
Accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Kulgam Athar Aamir Ul Shafi Khan and Director Health Services Kashmir Dr. Jehangir Bhakshi, the Minister toured critical sections, including the emergency ward, to personally assess the facility’s readiness.
During her interaction with hospital administration, Minister Itoo emphasized the necessity of maintaining a buffer stock of essential medicines and life-saving drugs to counter weather-related disruptions. She further directed staff to strictly adhere to duty rosters to ensure 24/7 medical availability and mandated close coordination with sub-district hospitals and primary health centers to provide support during the heavy snowfall.
While interacting with patients and their attendants to inquire about diagnostic services and medicine availability, the Minister reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to strengthening healthcare infrastructure throughout Jammu and Kashmir, specifically prioritizing rural and peripheral areas.
